Scott Norrie came up with an idea for speakers that connect up to your earbuds, and manage to amplify your music without using any power. Better yet, they are flexible, foldable, and virtually indestructible. Better yet, they look supremely cool. He made a video and threw it up on Kickstarter to try and get funded. It was a complete success – he got 100% funded, and started a company called Tembo Trunks to start manufacturing them.
The speakers, acting as big horns similar in principle to the vinyl amplifiers I posted about a while back, can amplify the music from your iPod’s earbuds up to 80dB. Don’t expect to shake the ground with them, but they are ideal when you want to share music in a casual setting (traveling, camping, beside the bed, in your hotel room, in the office, by the pool etc.).
They are waterproof, shockproof, and dust-proof, have no moving parts, and are made from high-grade silicone rubber. You can roll or fold them up & tuck them away in a bag or anywhere else without worrying about them getting wrecked.
Very cool. I love to hear about Kickstarter success stories, and I love these little speakers. They go for $39.97 right here.
