Funkin’ Back to the 1990’s

So I was driving about and doing some errands, listening to the radio, and an old Suicidal Tendencies song came on, it was their 1984 song “Institutionalized,” and it got me thinking – maybe more like reflecting – back to that era, and in the case of Suicidal Tendencies, I particularly reflected on Suicidal Tendencies frontman, Mike Muir, and his side band/super-group he helped form, called Infectious Grooves (It was a “supergroup” because it was comprised of Excel guitarist Adam Siegel, former Suicidal Tendencies bassist, and current Metallica bassist, Robert Trujillo, and former Janes Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins).  Infectious Grooves’ first album, “The Plague that Makes Your Booty Move . . . It’s the Infectious Grooves,” was one of the first CD’s (remember those things?) I ever bought (I did have a quite extensive cassette collection back in the stone age, so Infectious Grooves was one of the first to lead me to the CD era), and the band was a funk metal fusion effort, similar to the Red Hot Chili Peppers album, “Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magik,” and Faith No More’s album “The Real Thing,” all of which had varying degrees of popularity at roughly the same time 1989 – 1991.

So, this then lead me to further thinking, since I own each of those albums, what are my favorite songs from each – you know if I were to make a funk metal mixed tape – or CD – or iPod playlist – or whatever, you get the point, of those three albums?  Well, below are the songs that I came up with today – tomorrow they would probably be different…
